Anti-Spam Policy
A verifier is only as good as how it's used. VerifyMaill exists to help responsible senders reach real inboxes, not to help anyone spam. This policy sets that line clearly.
1. Our Anti-Spam Stance
VerifyMaill has zero tolerance for spam. Our tools are for cleaning and protecting permission-based email: the kind of list-hygiene that improves deliverability for senders people actually want to hear from. Using VerifyMaill to enable unsolicited or deceptive messaging is a serious breach of these terms.
2. What VerifyMaill Is (and Isn't)
VerifyMaill verifies email addresses and reports on deliverability; we are not your bulk email sender. Any campaigns you run happen on your own systems or your email provider, and you're responsible for them. Some features (such as inbox-placement tests or warmup) send mail only to seed mailboxes that you or we control for testing, never to your contacts. Because we don't send your campaigns, anti-spam compliance for those campaigns rests with you, and this policy makes that responsibility explicit.
3. Acceptable Practices
You may use VerifyMaill to:
- clean and validate lists of people who opted in or with whom you have a genuine, lawful relationship;
- verify addresses captured through your own sign-up forms, checkout, or account creation, in real time or in bulk;
- reduce bounces and protect your sender reputation; and
- monitor your own domain's deliverability, DMARC and blocklist status.
4. Prohibited Use of Lists
You must not use VerifyMaill to:
- verify purchased, rented, scraped or harvested lists, or any addresses gathered without permission;
- clean a list so you can send unsolicited bulk email ("spam"), phishing, scams or malware;
- validate addresses for someone else's spam operation;
- send to addresses we flagged as invalid, risky, role-based or spam-traps in order to "test" them; or
- evade the filters, blocklists or unsubscribe mechanisms that exist to protect recipients.
5. Consent & Permission
By submitting a list, you confirm you have a lawful basis and the necessary permission to email and to verify each address, for example a clear opt-in, an existing customer relationship, or another basis recognised by the law that applies to you. You must honour unsubscribe requests promptly and keep your own records of consent. Verification does not create permission; it only checks whether an address can receive mail.
6. Compliance with CAN-SPAM, CASL & GDPR
You are responsible for complying with all anti-spam and data-protection laws that apply to your sending, including, as relevant:
- CAN-SPAM Act (US): accurate headers and subject lines, a valid physical address, and a working opt-out;
- CASL (Canada): consent before sending, clear identification, and an unsubscribe mechanism;
- GDPR / UK GDPR & ePrivacy (EU/UK): a lawful basis to process and to send marketing, and respect for data-subject rights; and
- equivalent laws in your recipients' countries.
Our role is verification; meeting these obligations when you send is yours. See our GDPR page and DPA for how we handle data on your behalf.
7. Bounce & Complaint Handling
We monitor for signals of misuse: for example, abnormally high invalid-address ratios, spam-trap patterns, or abuse complaints linked to an account. Good list hygiene means acting on results: remove invalid and risky addresses, stop mailing addresses that hard-bounce, and promptly suppress anyone who complains or unsubscribes.
8. Reporting Spam
If you've received spam you believe is connected to VerifyMaill, report it to team@verifymaill.com with the full message and headers. We investigate every credible report. See our Abuse Policy for how.
9. Enforcement
Breaching this policy can lead to warnings, feature restrictions, suspension, or immediate termination without refund, and, where appropriate, reporting to anti-spam authorities or blocklist operators, as set out in our Terms and Abuse Policy. We'd much rather help you stay compliant, so if you're unsure whether a use is okay, ask us first.
